Snow Leopard puts Ghana on Winter Olympic map

kwame1Ghana skier Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, more commonly known as Snow Leopard, on Saturday achieved his Olympic goal — of not coming last in the slalom.

That dubious honour went to Albania’s Erjon Tola, who finished 48th, a massive one minute, 4.56 seconds behind Italian gold medallist Giuliano Razzoli. (more…)

AP Interview: FIFA concern over African stimulants

SUN CITY, South Africa (AP) - FIFA is concerned that players at the World Cup could use undetectable stimulants derived from traditional African medicines that aren’t currently banned substances.

FIFA medical committee chairman Michel D’Hooghe told The Associated Press on Sunday that he wants the World Anti-Doping Agency to analyze some African plants that could give athletes an unfair advantage. (more…)

WHISTLER, B.C. — The African skier known as the Snow Leopard can now add musician to his improbable list of accomplishments.
