Rank Hypocrisy In NPP Makes Me Sick!

Filed under: Featured, News, Opinions — admin @ 7:53 pm

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

In the wake of the brouhaha over Mr. Kwame Pianim’s “Flag-holding Idiots” remark, some notable members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have palpably contributed to the raging unsavory infighting therein have had the temerity to publicly lament the very situation which they, themselves, have helped to induce in no small measure. Interestingly, the man on whose campaign platform the reported snide remark was made does not seem to be honorable enough to come out and forcefully repudiate the same. (more…)

Guess Who Is Damning Chieftaincy?

It is always a delight to watch, hear and listen to Ghana’s most notorious Afropean journalist make a great fool of himself. Thus, it came as no surprise, at all, to me that Mr. Kwesi Pratt would jump on all of his four limbs, during the Second African Sister-Cities International Conference on Trade and Exhibition, to impugn the functional organicity of the monarchical institution to the socioeconomic and cultural development of the African continent. Don’t Be Flip, Uncle Atta!

Among the slew of things that I can’t stand are cant and sheer hypocrisy – and it was these twin-bane of politics that luridly reflected President John Evans Atta-Mills’ assay at a glowing tribute in the wake of the passing of Nigeria’s President Umaru Musah Yar’Adua on Wednesday night. Dr. Raymond Osei Cannot Be Serious!

Filed under: Featured, News, Opinions — admin @ 9:30 pm

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

The desperate tendency to magnify the perceived achievements of Ghana’s first postcolonial premier beyond practical reality continues to be shamelessly displayed by Nkrumah’s ideological disciples. The problem, however, is that oftentimes it is not even clear whether these disciples adequately appreciate the thrust of their own arguments. (more…)

I Cannot Celebrate the Ghana Armed Forces!!!

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

I have been mulling the contents of an article that appeared in the online edition of the Ghanaian Times of April 6, 2010. What intrigues me more than anything else about the article is its caption, which runs as follows: “Brain Drain Hits Ghana Armed Forces.” (more…)

Don’t Patronize Me, Dr Kennedy!

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

As usual, I read Dr. Arthur Kennedy’s rejoinder to my article with no small measure of amusement (See MyJoyOnline.com 5/8/10). For somebody who has written tons of articles celebrating the achievements of President Kwame Nkrumah (both real and concocted) to presume to instruct Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe on how not to offensively celebrate the achievements of illustrious Ghanaians who also happen to be my ancestors and relatives, constitutes the very height of arrogance. But this is only in synch with the character of Dr. Arthur Kennedy, Our Latter-Day Moses! (more…)

Not So Brilliant, To Tell You The Truth, Mr. Iddrisu!

Filed under: Featured, News, Opinions — admin @ 2:23 pm

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

In the wake of an apparent conflict of role between Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Identification Authority (NIA), the country’s Minister of Communications was quoted to be saying that Ghanaian politicians are notorious for being brilliant when they have been shunted to the margins of the political opposition (See “Ghanaian Politicians Are Brilliant In Opposition – Haruna Iddrisu” MyJoyOnline.com 2/8/10).
